Cooper’s life was changed by two people with big hearts. Two people that vowed to love, protect and never let him go hungry again. These two people were Cooper’s angels. Your donations help animals who are rescued from abuse receive immediate medical attention and life saving surgeries. They help cover the costs of food and boarding while animals are in recovery and support any training and rehabilitation needed to help animals overcome their trauma.

Cooper's Rescue

When officers went to the house Cooper was living at they were shocked to find three abused and neglected dogs in the backyard. One of them was Cooper’s mother and unfortunately help came too late for her. She had been tied up on a short leash and had already starved to death. Cooper was found lying next to her also on a short chain with a huge metal collar and with no food, shelter or water! He was skin and bones and had sores all over his body. Thanks to the Nassau County SPCA he, along with the other surviving residents, were brought to safety.

A dear friend of ours brought Cooper to our attention and we are thrilled she did. He was a lot of work at first, because outside of being at a shelter after his rescue, he had never lived inside before and the city was very different than the backyard he was dying in. It took him about a year to adjust, and to get used to things that (for all my other dogs) were normal routines. He was never frightened though...except when it was thundering outside. He knew he was safe, loved and well fed.

We are so lucky to have had such an amazing dog as part of our family for many years. Sadly Coop has passed but he is missed and still loved everyday. We promised him he would never miss a meal and we kept that promise. He very much enjoyed his breakfast the morning he left us.
